Proactivity
Taking action on things when they first come to be. That is what being proactive is. We face each day creating thousands of ideas in our heads. We have these mental nudges that push us towards doing a new thing. When we think of being proactive let us think of it as being on top of things. This idea of being proactive can be applied to many different aspects of our lives. Use a relationship for example. Maybe you have had a continuous urge to buy flowers for your significant other, but you have not made a trip to pick up the flowers. That “nudge” is something that we can act on that will benefit the greater good.
As we may know, many of the world’s greatest innovations have been idea driven. Many things would not have been created without someone acting on an idea that they had. That means that we owe it to ourselves to pursue those ideas, dreams, and passions. We may be robbing the world of a gift that we have, because we were not proactive. Sometimes that idea is something that should become a reality.
Being proactive also benefits us because it forces us to take more risks. Sometimes those “crazy” ideas are ideas that are worth taking a risk on. My belief is that it is better to know that you failed at something than to not know if you ever succeeded. When we take risks it causes us to put our doubts aside and trust. Proactivity helps us break past that fear of failure and achieve things that are unimaginable.
Finally, we must take each passing thought and consider it. The ideas and dreams we have are things that may help many people, but we must be confident enough to pursue them. I personally believe that it is always worth it to take a risk on yourself by being proactive.
